Young people are a hot cake,
They are on the safe side of most things,
Life’s most consequential choices remain unticked on their tables,
Their mental and physical energies are at their peak,
If their finances are well organized, it is a plus,
Yet if per chance, their coffers are yet to behave,
They can conveniently declare, “Comrades, money will come!”
For even without skill, trade, or apprenticeship,
They can still provide the capital of the poor—the strength of bone and muscle.
Yet their plight isn’t that easy,
The saints and sinners are fighting for their allegiance,
All crave the opportunity to mentor their fresh and frenetic blood to perpetuate their legacies,
As the generous appeal of a life worth sacrificing everything for beckons to them,
Offering no easier path than that which all true sons and daughters of duty have followed,
Life’s ephemerals and follies are raising their deformed heads with unmatched boldness,
Offering nothing better than the pleasure of sin for a season, and tents of ease pitched on the lowlands.
Whatever side they choose, they will be readily employed,
Whether it be the blood-stained banner of the Hero of the Cross,
Or the benumbing and degrading servitude of sin,
Yet the consequences are worlds apart, like parallel lines,
One leads to a life measuring with God’s,
While the other leads to eternal bankruptcy.
So, it’s a wonder that amidst the confusion of youth, the dazzling sights, and the tempting sounds of the world,
Some young people make bold moves for eternity,
Like Joseph in Potiphar’s house, they say, “How can I do this and sin against the Lord?”
Like Moses, they refuse to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
Like David, they refuse to lay their hands upon the Lord’s anointed,
Like Daniel and his friends, they refuse the best but defiling offerings of the world,
Like Isaiah, they say, “Here I am, Oh Lord, send me!”
Like Christ, they fortify their soul with “It is written.”
Nothing is as beautiful as when young people decide to serve God.

For the old, who may have been disappointed with life,
For the wasted whose talents and usefulness have been squandered,
For those that Satan cannot use anymore because he has exhausted their virtues,
For those who have nothing more to live for, who crave a peaceful and hopeful death,
Only the yoke of Christ is light enough to bear.
But when with youthful potential,
Before the grinders become few,
Before the pleasures of life become distasteful to the taste buds,
Before the daughters of music are brought low,
Before the normal desires of life fail,
Before the skin and every contour of their bodies are humbled by gravity,
Young people reject the seducing influences from beneath and dare the narrow path,
Scoring hat-tricks for eternity,
That is beautiful and wise.
May such be found among us!

May many young find the courage to choose the narrow path and score hat-tricks for eternity🙂

Amen… Carrying the yoke in the days of our youth

This is powerful, may we young people stand faithful to our calling and not choose the ephemerals this world may offer.

Very true… The things of earth will dim and lose all their values… If we recall, they’re borrowed for a while
