The Woman of ‘Proverbs 32’

She’s equally a virtuous woman,
Precious than rarest jewels,
Yet no husband’s heart safely trusts her,
For she’s single and can safely mingle,
But whoever finds her will lack no good thing.

She’s not quite at home with flax and wool,
Yet she’s of a teachable spirit,
Her heart’s willing and her hand’s ready to learn,
She’s not quite like the merchant ships that bring food from afar,
But she makes the most out of all that lies near.

She is not rising while it’s still night,
But she keeps the morning watch,
To contribute her skill and talents in the best way possible,
She’s yet to buy a field or plant a vineyard,
But she’s done her research and knows exactly what to buy when her finances behave.

She cannot boast to draw from her own strength,
Neither can she reveal that her arms are strong,
Yet she knows her strengths and weaknesses,
And she’s on a mission to redeem herself,
She’s building that which will last for eternity.

She’s not confident of her profits yet,
They are yet to break even,
Nevertheless she’s on her craft,
Holding her distaff and spindle,
Sometimes she burns the midnight oil, but always keeps the morning watch.

She’s not outspoken in her philanthropy,
But her kindness is expressed in every possible way,
Sometimes giving her time and sympathy,
And when able to, her silver and gold,
So, she’s able to give all the time.

She’s not so confident in her household when it snows,
But isn’t her best good enough?
She’s enrolled to learn to make her own bed coverings,
And clothes with fine linen and purple,
Yet she will use whatever is available.

Her husband is not known at the city gates,
How can a non-existent husband be known?
But there is hope for whoever makes it to win her heart,
He has the potential of going beyond the city gates,
Right into the palace.

She equally makes and sells garments,
Sometimes garments made of linen,
And other times whatever she can find,
She’s not yet able to meet the demands of the merchants’ ships,
But she delivers her belts meeting the orders she can afford.

She’s not questionable in her character,
But she’s not satisfied yet,
For she aims to make strength and honour her clothing,
Teaching her tongue to speak in wisdom and kindness,
Without missing out on the wisdom of silence.

She’s not watching over the activities of her household,
Yet she doesn’t eat the bread of idleness,
Always accountable to the woman of Proverbs 31 who does that,
She has neither husband nor children to call her blessed,
But isn’t she praiseworthy?

While many women have done noble deeds,
She equally does her best,
And her best is good enough,
And in time, she’s going to preside as a queen,
A queen presiding in her own domain.

And don’t joke with her either,
For this woman is comely,
Yet she knows that charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting,
So she finds her worth in the fear of the LORD,
Give her her flowers, for soon she’s going to be praised at the city gates.
