Recipe For a Fruitful Day

We all want a fruitful day and wish those we love and care for. But did you know it is not so much in the wishes as in what everyone does to get themselves in shape for such a day?

A life story of someone is a collection of daily averages. One’s story is built up by his daily tendencies. The propensities of their habitual words and acts. One day at a time is the much God requires of us. We must not be worried about how we will be moral agents in the future, but our greatest worry is how to be one today. Today is the only time we have got in this probationary period. In fact, to be precise, we only have now.

By analysing the prophetic chronology of events, we can be sure that the doom’s day is neither today nor tomorrow. Paul put it this way, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2 Thessalonians 2:3. So before the falling away comes we must be able to do something in the by and by. But despite the great waymarks, we must know our place as beings wanting immortality. While you can be sure, based on prophetic evidence, that Christ is not coming today, you cannot be sure that you will make it alive at the end of today. Every day, people are caught in fatal road accidents who had no thought of such outcomes. People are found dead in homes who previously slept with the hope of a better day ahead. So, it is rational that only today is the time we have in our hands.  Therefore, the greatest question is how to make the best out of this day, which is called today.

Most people live their lives with the “come what may” mentality. Quite a good number of people have no pattern of working out their days. To the overwhelming majority, life is just an accident, with no clear target for each day.

Research by some banks found that most people wake up to look for their mobile phones, so they thought of using mobile banking to reach people. Many consequently spend more than they used to without such a platform. Is this a reality in your life? There are people, many of the young and jobless, who start their days on their favourite TV shows and movies. Some begin with food, and in most cases, they overeat. Well, you know your case. But how do you think Christ started His days?

Psalms 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will lookup. (KJV)
Mark 1:35, And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Christ’s method is an excellent yardstick because Christ was perfect and sinless despite facing the worst temptations. All the temptations that nowadays confuse us and require strict supervision before we can be helpful fell before him harmless. He was faithful to God entirely. He qualifies to be our example.  The Bible clearly shows Christ was a watcher and a faithful prayer warrior. Early in the morning, He had a moment to talk to God. Realising the great battle for the souls of men ahead of Him, he saw a sense of perpetual communion with God. Most Christians today have a spasmodic prayer life, and temptations knock them cold, and they forget the power available to them. Many depend on methods that disappoint them from time to time.

If there was a time when we needed a consistent prayer life, now is that time. Our day must be built on a foundation of scriptures and prayers of faith. Here’s a golden rule, you must keep watch forever.

“Your last thought at night, your first thought in the morning, should be of Him in whom is centred your hope of eternal life.” Our High Calling p. 116.2
