If You Must Be Righteous 

If you must be righteous,
Then why don’t you make it your new mantra,
Imbibing every bit of it,
Living it as if to betray it would be instantly suicidal,
Unlike when we keep retribution on the finish line until doomsday.

If you must be righteous,
Then why don’t you just try it with your all in all,
I mean, trying to be righteousness in shoes,
Not so that people may see you and admire you, for even whitewashed tombs have admirers,
But so that, if they ever admire you, then it be, that is who you are in and out,
More so, on the transactions upon which they have no evidence—your private life.

If you must be righteous,
Then why not fall in love with righteousness?
Do you remember when you fast loved?
Your entire life revolved around the object of your tender affection,
You missed them when walking up and at bedtime,
You missed them when you were happy and much more when distressed,
And even after spending the whole day with them on the highways and byways, you still missed them when it was time to go home,
Why not fall in love with righteousness like that?

If you must be righteous,
Then why not be righteous for righteousness’ sake,
So that you don’t depend on what other people will recognize or say,
But cling to righteousness because it is lovely and safe,
And when the world is on fire, righteousness will not betray you like unrighteousness always does!

If you must be righteous,
Then why not get the right recipe,
Why compare yourself to the unrighteous and feel better off?
Why not look at yourself in the mirror and polish yourself instead?
Why not read your Bible and pray every day?
For right-doing like a sumptuous dish,
Is a result of the right recipe.

If you must be righteous,
Then why not try for yourself and know,
The beauty of holiness that the righteous have discovered,
So that you cannot be happy with anything less,
Finding your truest joy in the only true mind and body doctor—the Consciousness of right-doing.

Have you not heard or seen that righteousness exalts a nation?
See the Israelites in the days of their faithfulness,
When a band of freed slaves became a terror to the fortified cities and trained soldiers,
What about the Land of Freedom when the Man of Sin persecuted, hunted, and anathematized the saints on European soil?
The Declaration of Independence recognized no governance by divine right, granted everyone freedom to worship in conciliation with one’s conscience, and a separation of God’s and Caezer’s business,
This is what made America great, and anyone and council discussing the topic “Let’s Make America Great Again” can only achieve it through this same formula.

Have you not heard or seen that righteousness exalts individuals?
You have all the examples you need everywhere,
See Joseph in the Royal Court of the Most Powerful nation, then!
See David on the monarchical throne right from the shepherd’s booth!
See Daniel being granted an excellent Spirit, making him needed by regime after regime!
See Moses being resurrected and taken to heaven ahead of all righteous dead!
And the list is endless…

Do you want to grant us more evidence that righteousness is safe and a recipe for success in temporal and spiritual matters?
